Planning is underway for Danube Day 2018. Details will be posted here in the spring.

Tyachiv in Zakarpattya hosted Danube Day in 2017: a joint festival with Romania that emphasized basin-wide solidarity, celebration and sustainability! By providing a platform for informal discussions, it nurtured cross-border relations between ministries, agencies, communities and children. Catch a flavour of the day from Ukraine's video and on facebook.
Innovative actions made sure that Danube awareness continues well into the future. The brand new River Quest challenge saw teenagers race around the town solving puzzles. By completing each activity, they received part of a map. The first to complete the rivers' journey from Tisza source to Black Sea mouth won the prize! Environmental experts were on hand to assist the students and raise awareness of Tisza-Danube issues.
The first ever Danube Art Master Water Oscars were also a big hit. 121 children from the Tisza Basin entered the contest, which tasked them to create a 1-minute video depicting their hopes and dreams for the Tisza. The best videos were played at the Tyachiv Danube Day, where winners received their water oscars. Other highlights included a Plastic Treasures rubbish clearance competition sponsored by Coca-Cola; and the unveiling of a beautiful 80m2 mural depicting the Tisza as a young woman.
A separate Danube Art Master competition was held in the Danube Delta, resulting in a grand total of 35 schools entering this year's contest. Also marking Danube Day in the Delta, WWF celebrated the sturgeon with a day-long festival in Vylkove.
