Join us for an exhilarating day for all the family at Danube Day at Gabčíkovo Dam. Among many highlights will be river rescue demonstrations and the chance to ride in a rescue boat. For a more sedate tour, they'll be free river cruises, where children can enjoy environmental games and story-telling along the way.
There's plenty of excitement on land too, with horse riding, archery, a climbing wall, inflatables and bubble and foam shows. The packed programme also features theatre, music, animation, children's workshops, local food, a funny photo shoot and a youth painting competition.
On the big stage, you can enjoy live music throughout the day. Enthralling the festival crowds will be a special highlight: Four Elements, a unique folk dance collaboration between Dúbravcek folk ensemble and Frozen's Elsa and Olaf. The hydropower plant also open its doors for free tours and you'll be able to find out about water and environmental issues at the many information stalls. For more details, see the websites of the event organisers, Vodohospodárska výstavba and Slovenský vodohospodársky podnik and on facebook.

If you're aged 6-18 years and love your river, the Danube Art Master competition is for you! Your challenge is to create a 3D artwork or 1-minute video that celebrates the environment. Rivers are your inspiration: make an artwork or video during a visit to your river. Use your creativity to show how it is important to you or perhaps what should be done to look after it. Then submit a photo or video to national organisers, BROZ, and you could win a top prize, to be awarded at Danube Day at Gabčíkovo Dam. Two winners will be invited to Vienna for the 14-country Danube Art Master final.
Awards ceremomy: Saturday 17th June 2017
