Danube Day 2017 in Romania

Join us for a joint Ukrainian-Romanian celebration in Tyachiv. Bringing communities together, this public event emphasizes Danube solidarity, recognising how important the Tisza and Danube rivers are for people living on both sides of the border. The family festival is organised by Ukraine's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Romanian Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests. See Ukraine for more.
Date: Saturday 1st July 2017

Galati is the host of this year's national celebration of Danube culture, recreation and sport. They'll be something for everyone at the 4-day festival, with actions that will inspire, enliven and entertain! 500 visitors will have the chance to enjoy a Danube cruise, which for many will be their first trip. Galati port will be taken back in time, with sailors in traditional outfits, decorations, music, an old-time puppet show and cocktails! Next it's carnival time, with the Summer Parade inviting every resident to get with the beat - whether you're part of a dance school performance or out for a stroll with your pet! To add to the spectacle, 600 people will take part in a 'spontaneous' flashmob.

Saturday kicks off with the Danube Cross-country for every age and ability! Later, there's an open-air Danube Gala for an evening of Strauss, Morricone, Verdi and classical dance. Sunday goes all out for sport: watch or join in Cycle Cross at Tiglina Valley or take in a tennis match at the national Seniors Danube Cup. The packed festival also includes exhibitions, history lectures and children's reading and art competitions. See local press for more info.
Date: Thursday 29th June - Sunday 2nd July 2017

Then submit a photo or video to national organisers, Eco Counselling Centre Galati (ECCG), and you could win a top prize! Two winners will attend the 14-country Art Master final in Vienna. Find out more on the ECCG facebook page.
