2000 visitors enjoyed the special events in all 7 Danube provinces in 2017. Across the region, sport, music, art, local customs and the Danube rivers brought people together.

Culinary delights featured at Vidin's floating feast and Kozloduy's fish festival. Regional cuisine was also a highlight at Baykal's festival, where the village's age-old annual ceremony of tossing a wreath into the fast-flowing waters was carried out. Children also took part in 'Drawings on the Danube Banks', the 17th National Children's Drawing Biennial and enjoyed investigating the interactive river models on show.

Danube banks were cleared across the region including actions in Lom and Nikopol. In Ruse, water resource issues were discussed at a cross-border conference attended by scientists and officials from Bulgarian and Romanian research organisations.

Belene held a 'Danube Days' festival, where WWF's environmental education activities inspired young people to become sturgeon champions. Children also got active in the national round of the Danube Art Master competition, organised by GWP Bulgaria.
